Nick and Cassie crossed paths at CSX in Jacksonville, where they both worked as graduate interns. They finally went on their first date to the Jacksonville Fair, 10 months after they first met. They’ve been together ever since!
After dating for about two years, Cassie was offered a promotion that required her to move to Atlanta. It was a job she had wanted for a while. Nick, being very supportive of Cassie achieving her goals, agreed that she could not pass up the opportunity, so Cassie accepted it and moved to Atlanta in August 2013. After about six months of the long distance thing, alternating weekends between Jax and Atl, they quickly realized they yearned to be together forever, and began talking about marriage. The following Spring, they started ring shopping and by the end of May she found the perfect ring – Nick bought it that day. He wanted the proposal to be a surprise since Cassie was there when he bought the ring, so he waited until July 4th weekend to pop the question. He drove up to Atlanta after work on Friday, like normal, and got there around midnight. He said the ring was burning a hole in his pocket and was nervous the whole drive up. As soon as Cassie opened the door to greet him, he dropped to a knee and popped the question. Cassie was definitely not expecting it, and he got his surprise. To celebrate that night, the couple went to Marietta Diner, a 24 hour old-school diner they love. Nothing like greasy diner food at 1am to say “WE’RE ENGAGED!”
